New Cassel Hotel Lobby
Kim was asked to design the New York City New Cassel Hotel lobby to create openness, daylighting, areas for seating all with beautiful, sustainable green features. The owner wanted an indoor outdoor feel with the same large scale flooring running throughout all the way to the front outdoor living spaces.
The main goal was to design an open space visible from every angle. Kim created a waterfall feature with a translucent eco resin wall from 3FORM to break up the space for some intimacy while still having open visibility. She also used backlit bamboo paneling for interesting features and iconic Noguchi lighting. All materials were mindful of the principles of biomimcry – biophilic design.
